This is a compre drawing for my entry for the upcoming KOMIKON ( 1st Philippine Komiks Convention) at UP Diliman, Manila, Philippines on October 22, 2005. This will be a big event for Filipino Comic Artists. This piece was inspired from the novel of Pablo S. Gomez - “Alupihang Dagat”, and drawn by Alex Niño in the local comics. It was read and loved by Filipinos at that time. Later they made it into a movie starred by the late Fernando Poe Jr..

Every great works of art starts with a sketch. So let's start scribbling and do little thumbnails... a first hand doodles of tini tiny bits of ideas lurking on your cocoshell starts to form on paper.

From that then... we sketch the characters. In this early stage I'm just concerned of the stance and pose of the characters.

Then again checking on my drawings, carefull with my anatomy, and puting them together. Now I realised that the composition was sliding down, so I tilt or slant it up a bit to give my hero a heroic stance.

Now I''m putting them on a makeshift raft... right in the midst of roaring rough seas, poor guys. Being the illustrator... you are GOD! A rude God ha?

I'm not that rude... let's give them hope. We will add a sail then. That's Cool!

To be continued... let me eat my lunch first.
